Dun dun Tera time!

I always thought of myself as a big MMOs fan-girl. That’s just the way I roll. MMORPGs always get me crazy and addicted, especially the good ones. They give you a massive feeling of achievement and satisfaction when you reach your maximum level and get the best gear. Maybe not as big as getting actual, real life prize, but you know the drill.

After long chats and begging of my friend, I got convinced to join TERA, it has been around quite a while, but I just can’t be bothered with games that require me to pay monthly and TERA was one of them, until now. They went Free to play.

Ages has passed and the 26GB or so; of game has finished downloading. I registered my account and finally could launch the game. I have not watched any trailers, or anything to know what to expect, just a little description of how awesome it was from my friend.
After various logos show, little movie intro of TERA’s races as cliché as it could get (Yada, yada we unite all together to fight the evil) I finally get to server list.

“Alright, let’s do this!” I say to myself and quickly glance through the servers; I chose the PvP server, as I enjoy to hunt people from time to time (Most of the time getting myself killed). I take it to character creation, while pretty picture loads on the screen.

“What do we have here?” I wonder as I look through the 7 available races. “Okay Human, Elf, Some stone guy on steroids, more rock looking people. Uhhh, a demon things called Castanic. HOLD THE HELL UP.  What is this?” My eyes sparkle as I see the cute bunny girl. I should probably mention I have a huge thing for adorable things.

Just as I give out squeaky sound of “Must pick this” I notice little fat animal character and its little panda icon. “This has been here entire time?! I CAN BE A PANDA?!”  For people that know me, I have absolute obsession with pandas. How could you not love the sweet fat-fluffiness of a panda?  Anyway, I go all crazy and create few characters (read as army of pandas, cats and bunny girls.) Oh and yes, there are also different classes, you know, the typical mage, healer, tank and damage dealer people often met in other games of that genre.

So I take my cat character of race popori. I chose mystic class and I am thrown into another tutorial, letting out a sigh. If it was not for the fact story in tutorial connects to the game, I would be very irritated with the idea of useless tutorial like that. It is pretty much a waste of time, because anything that you learn in it, it will be later on explained in the game. You constantly get tips when you are in game. Thankfully that has to be done only on one of the characters.

I jump in, after my eyes bleed out from the shock of the brightness and contrast in the game I begin my adventure. I look around, everything is so sweet and colourful, almost candy like. It’s not too bad and it is very fantasy based. “Ah, here we go a quest.” I walk up to the NPC (Non playable character, usually intractable, for the sake of giving zillions of quests and selling your crap.) and he tells me like the little delivery boy I am what to do. The obvious go to talk to this guy 5 meters away from me he will tell you that you then need to go to another to guys, so finally one of them will tell you what to kill. Killing, yep, no, generally combat, combat is gloriously amazing in TERA. Saying gloriously I am not over exaggerating. You feel the fight, it requires you to dodge, combine skills in combos, being tactical and smashing your weapon/magic at the evil pasties that try to take over the world.

This is what I find great about TERA, maybe the story followed by quests feels a bit dull but the gameplay does drag you in and it’s completely gripping. Besides I can shoot and make balls, as a kitten face, chubby animal thing. What more would I need?
