First year is far behind me now. It was a difficult one and
as I previously said in one of my blogs. I learned a lot, as well as made a lot
of mistakes, but they say mistakes are good as you learn that way.
Second year, I have high expectations, maybe a little too
high. I want to learn a lot more, I want to explore more in terms of the software
and apply the knowledge gained in year one. All details aside I just want to
keep learning and expanding and developing as an Artist, Game Artist. I still
need to find and explore the direction I am heading to, as in the first year I
came with a idea of being a character concept artist, but I am slowly starting
to fall in love with 3D as well, I enjoy everything now and it’s difficult to
decide what final goal I should set myself, or who to precisely be, concept or
tech artist who knows. I have big plans
to finally put out a professional portfolio over the coming summer and slowly
start to look for more professional tasks to aspire to.
I definitely struggle to improve just through the University
briefs and projects, that’s why this year I particularly would like to do
personal/side projects on top of my university work to really push myself into
the right direction. To drop the horrible procrastination habits, become
faster, more motivated and to become more efficient, and maybe a bit less
pedantic about unnecessary details.
I think it would be lovely to get into freelancing at some
point as money is always a good motivation on top of trying to climb the “becoming
the best” ladder. However knowing how long I take to do everything maybe it isn’t
best idea or time yet, as I’d rather focus on my studies.
Well then, let’s sum it up then the big plan is to:
- · Become the very best, like no one ever was.
- · To learn all the software is my real test to use it is my cause.
- · I will travel across internet, researching far and wide, each program to understand the power that’s inside.
- · 3D - gotta learn it all, It’s you (Computer) and me, I know it’s my destiny.
- · 2D – Oh you are my best friend, the good use of light and colour we must defend.
Well that’s for my little mantra for this year. Summing it all up my aim is to become better
in everything that I got to learn last year. I will see what this year brings me, for now I
can relax and have fun. For now…
